Follow the Sun Country Highway all-electric New Brunswick tour, the second province in Canada to offer high powered level 2 EV Charging Network!

June 4 2013

Moncton -June 3, 2013 – Sun Country Highway continues to invest in the expansion of New Brunswick’s EV charging infrastructure, focusing on social, economic and environmental sustainability. In collaboration with leading municipalities, small business and tourism destinations, follow the first ever, all-electric tour of the province.
With this milestone project, the province will have its highways electrified with a FREE, publicly accessible and high power Level 2 infrastructure. Reliable and offering a range of 40 to 90 amps, this new network have ability to charge any electric vehicle in the market today. Starting this historical tour at the St. Stephen Tourism Information Center on Monday, SCH Regional Director Stephane Daoust toured to host sites, stopping to charge along the way between St. Stephen and Moncton.
“We have a beautiful town here, and we’re building a new Civic Center and a Best Western Hotel. Hopefully in the future, we will be able to attract a new clientele through the electric charger program – we are looking forward to having more of these installed” – John Quartermain, St. Stephen Mayor. Like the Delta Beausejour Hotel in Moncton, the St. Stephen’s CS-90 model delivers 90 amps of power that can recharge the new Tesla Model S at a fraction of the time compared to the smaller 30 amp chargers typically installed.
Using Sun Country Highway’s 60 amp chargers, the Amsterdam Inn and Suites hotels located in Sussex and Quispamsis are also partnering with SCH, offering a free public charger in their respective regions.
30 more FREE EV Stations
In order to maximize charging coverage, our goal is to reduce the distances between the chargers and provide greater energy security for EV owners. For this reason, Sun Country Highway is proud to announce a further investment into New Brunswick - the provision of 30 more EV charging stations to the region.
We invite people from municipalities, businesses or tourism attractions in New Brunswick to submit an application to receive an EV charger at no cost. Available on our link at, this page explains the details of this promotion. To participate, simply fill out a form to suggest a suitable location for these new installations. Applications will be accepted from June 1st until Sunday, June 30, 2013.
The FIRST all-electric New Brunswick tour (#EVNBTOUR)
To celebrate this great achievement and to promote our investment of 30 free additional chargers going into the Province, a 4-day electric vehicle road trip debuted Monday in St. Stephen.
“With this investment, essential to the province’s sustainability, EV owners will have access to a charging location at distances between 50 and 80 kilometers. This means that you can discover the province in a new and greener way, using savings to spend more time with the family at a restaurant or a tourist attraction offering a free charge. SCH’s business model has a direct and proven impact on economic development and can help to maintain local jobs while promoting emission-free travel. If we could get 15 000 EVs on the New Brunswick roads, each owner saving $50 a week, $40 million in new cash flow will enter the province, creating a huge impact” – say’s Stephane Daoust, Regional Director.
