Recreaplex is a multipurpose facility, which includes a beautifully designed indoor 25-meter pool with a 100 foot water slide, tarzan rope, kiddy pool and slide, sauna and hot tub. Recreaplex also has a new and top of the line fitness center which carries Nautilus and Atlantis Equipment, treadmills, rowers, free weights, bicycles, a ski machine and an elliptical trainer. Exercise classes are also available for aerobics, kickboxing and aquacize. Inside Recreaplex has an esthetician and a manicurist.

Inch Arran Lighthouse

The ‘Bon Ami Point Range Front’ lighthouse was constructed on Inch Arran Point in 1870. It was built to guide steamers and other vessels to safety at night.

Miguasha National Park

How did fossil fishes and plants live on our planet 378 million years ago? You'll find out when you visit Parc national de Miguasha, a real gem in Québec's park system. The park is a unique piece of our natural heritage, fascinating young and old alike with its unusually well-preserved fossils and the light it sheds on a key stage in evolution. Its scientific renown persuaded UNESCO to add Miguasha Park to the World Heritage List in November 1999.

Battle of the Restigouche National Historic Site

The Battle of the Restigouche National Historic Site is located at the mouth of the Restigouche River, at the far end of Chaleur Bay. It is here that the last naval battle between France and England for possession of the North American continent took place. The confrontation finally ended on July 8, 1760, sealing the fate of New France forever after. Vestiges of the frigate The Machault are on display at an interpretation centre located on the site.

Dalhousie Regional Marina

Situated on the Restigouche River facing the Appalachian mountain range, Dalhousie's marina is the only one in Restigouche County and accommodates up to 66 boats. In the winter season, the marina is popular for ice fishing. Presently a Waterfront Development Project has been undertaken for the marina area.

 

 

 

 

Legend of the Chaleur Phantom

The legend of the blazing ship on the Bay of Chaleur is one of the most famous reported in the Maritimes. Over the years there have been countless sightings of a three-masted, fully-rigged schooner ablaze a few miles off the shoreline. Many different legends have been passed on and embellished from generation to generation. The legend that is most often retold is that of a Spanish ship which captured some of the natives and took them to their country never to be seen again. On the return voyage of this Spanish ship, the natives took revenge and burned the ship.
